State Leadership Conference 2017
Over 2,000 Delegates Attend the Georgia FCCLA State Leadership Conference
ATHENS (March 16-18, 2017) – Over 1,700 middle and high school students in Family and Consumer Sciences attended the Georgia FCCLA State Leadership Conference at The Classic Center in Athens. Students “Explored Unlimited Possibilities” by attending general sessions, workshops and competing in different Competitive Events.
Eight students from Pickens High School competed at this year’s conference.
Ashley Hamby placed second out of 30 entries with her second place winning Apple Pie with cinnamon whipped cream in the Baking and Pastry category.
Hailey Harris put her artist talents to work with a 2nd place win out of a group of 19 in the Creative Garnish Showpiece category.
Jacey Moss, Acacia Worley and Shae Chadwick competed in Life Event Planning and placed 6th in the State.
Ashley Craig competed in the knife skills category.
Madison Smith competed in the Chicken Fabrication category.
Caryn Curry competed in a new category, Digital Dish.
“These students are truly the face of the future. They competed in activities that showcased not only their knowledge, but their leadership skills,” said Sue Gibbons, Chapter Advisor. “Congratulations to the students for their hard work and preparation.”

ATHENS (March 20-22, 2016) – Over 1,700 middle and high school students in Family and Consumer Sciences attended the Georgia FCCLA State Leadership Conference at The Classic Center in Athens. Students attended general sessions, workshops and competed in different Competitive Events.
The Pickens High Chapter of FCCLA had 7 students compete at the State Conference.
Alex Castillo won 1st place in the Baking and Pastry category and took home a cash prize of $200.00. Jacey Moss and Acacia Worley placed 5th in Life Event Planning and Ashley Hamby and Ashley Craig placed 7th in Illustrated Talk. Also competing was Koert Dekker in Knife Skills and Andrew Henri in Chicken Fabrication.
