FCCLA Fall Leadership Conference 2015
Local Students Attend Fall Leadership Conference
Covington, GA – Youth from the Pickens High chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a weekend leadership conference held September 17-18, 2015 at the FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, Georgia. Over 1,200 students and advisers from 160 schools across Georgia participated in leadership workshops, planned the chapter’s program of work and participated in competitions. Students were motivated by the conference theme “Together We Are…Building Leaders”. Along with other advisers and members from across the state, Pickens FCCLA chapter adviser, Sue Gibbons and Joan Rutledge, accompanied 3 members to the meeting.
Chapters also had the chance to compete in several events including: T-shirt Design, State Lapel Pin Design, Membership Recruitment and Statesman Award. At the conclusion of the day the awards ceremony was held to recognize all of the accomplishments of the competition winners.
The 2015-2016 Pickens High School Culinary Arts team assisted Dr. Sally Combs, former Program Specialist for the Family and Consumer Science teachers in the State of Georgia, with her healthy snack demonstration.
