Youth Attend DISCOVER Training
Ft. Valley, GA. – Developing Individual School Chapters with Vision, Energy and Responsibilities (DISCOVER) Training was hosted by the Georgia Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) on Saturday, August 22 at Camp John Hope in Fort Valley, Georgia.
Almost 400 members from over 50 chapters from across the state attended this day of unique opportunities that informed and motivated chapter officers and their advisers to explore opportunities available through FCCLA. They examined new ways to help them succeed in their families, careers, and communities. The weekend meeting was intended to increase students’ knowledge of what it means to lead their local chapter and ways to take this back to their own community.
Attendees participated in various sessions that included ideas to take back to their local chapter regarding membership, community service, middle school, national programs and competitive events.
Senior, Koert Dekker, said “Discover Training was a very interesting experience, there were many different topics and a lot of available information presented in a fun and informative way. I learned much about FCCLA and myself”.
